Pokémon Supports Animal Abuse?!

Welcome to PokéBlog! Your #1 source for Pokémon facts, theories and more!

Think about what you're doing when you catch a Pokémon. You are shoving it in to a ball, ripping it from it's natural habitat and eventually forcing it to live a life of constant pain, battling and loneliness.

Let's think about this in a little bit more detail. First of all, what is it really like inside a Pokéball. We on the PokéBlog Team have a few theories of our own.

1. There are no other Pokémon. While it would be better technology to be able to fit more than one Pokémon in a ball it would be impossible. While battling you would bring out more than the Pokemon you want to battle with. When catching one Pokémon, you'd let out one already caught and stored in the ball. So, it is lonely living in a Pokéball.

2. You aren't in your natural environment. While it could mimic the natural environment of the Pokémon, like a zoo, it couldn't fully recreate it. There would be boundaries. Like a tardis, it could be "bigger on the inside" but how big. Not infinite and definitely not the large space of it's old home.

3. Neglectful. We all remember from whatever Pokémon game we've played that there are just some Pokemon that aren't good enough to be on your team. You love them and there isn't a command to release them, so, they go in the PC. Not only are they stuck in a ball, they aren't getting out until you and a friend decide to have some kind of "Worst Pokémon" battle.

So, now we have a picture of what life in the Pokéball is like for these creatures let's get a look at what their time outside of the ball is like.

1. Painful. In a less looked at episode, The Battle of the Badge, Ash is forced to feel all the pain his Pokémon feels in the battle. This isn't pretty. Ash is electrocuted, hit and overall badly injured. What is this like for Pokémon. They have to feel this every time a trainer decides he wants a fun playful battle. Playful? Try painful.

2. Sickly. The rare time a Pokémon gets out of it's ball, it is either sick or so injured from :: SIGH :: battling, it is rushed to a Pokécentre, where Nurse Joy will put it on a stretcher and take it away from it's trainer.

So, who's fault do you think all this is? Is it the trainer or The Pokémon Industry's? Think about it, children all over the Pokémon world are being taught that this is okay, that they "gotta catch 'em all". They don't know any better. Professer Oak, why? Why are you teaching kids that this is OK?

So, after all this, I still think the Pokémon games, show and movies are great and while the Animal Abuse Theory has some logic backing it up, the Pokémon actually seem to like it. It's their life and training them, battling them and "catching them all" is all normal in the Pokémon universe.

The Poképocalypse

Welcome to PokéBlog! Your #1 source for interesting Pokémon facts, theories and more!

There are many theories of how the Pokémon universe came to be, how it works and what Pokémon are. Well, we on the PokéBlog team have come up with our own theory...  THE POKÉPOCALYPSE!

It seems like in the cute and cuddly world of Pokémon, with it's adorable creatures and adventures that always turn out right, absolutely nothing could go wrong. Well, maybe this world is the aftereffect of a horrific event. A nuclear apocalypse.

Several years before Ash and the other young trainers we see in the show and games were born, there was a war. A nuclear war. We investigated the places in Pokémon based on places in the real world. There are many locations we see, such as Lumiose City, that are very similar to, if not based on, real places. Places that could have been involved in this war.

In the case of Lumiose, take a look at Prism Tower or the gym in the heart of the city,  it is almost identical to the Eiffel tower. This got us thinking. What if the tower is an attempt after this nuclear war to rebuild this important landmark?

There are several instances of modern or even futuristic looking versions of famous land marks or places that appear within the game and/or tv-show. We've indentified a few recreations of landmarks and places from Asia and Europe, more specifically Japan and France. So, we decided that for our theory to work, this war was between an alternate Asia and Europe. This would explain these famous landmarks being rebuilt in deserts or small towns.

Still, we have not yet answered what Pokémon are. Many Pokémon are very similar, if not identical, to animals we have in the real world. And the few animals we do see are domestic like the occasional dog or household bird, like a canary. These animals are animals that could have been snuck into or kept in nuclear shelters. However, all the wild animals who didn't have this good fortune were subject to fallout radiation. This caused dramatic changes in their body chemistry that mutated them in to the lovable creatures known as Pokémon. We see Pokémon that resemble zebras, and we see other Pokémon that resemble tigers. The nuclear bombs obviously had effects that, while stronger in the places like Europe and Asia, also affected a place much like Africa, and affected animals specific to that continent.

Then we get into the idea of Pokémon that are not animals but objects like Banette, a doll who was thrown away, forever holding a grudge. Well, radiation can do some crazy things. Who knows if long exposure could cause a doll to be brought to life as, well, every child's nightmare. We're not going to get too far into this because we're just bloggers, not scientists.

We also thought of the many ghost Pokémon that were humans in their past lives, human/Pokémon transformations and, of course, Lavender Town. This type of Pokémon, like Yamask, which are fairly common, are basically dead humans. We didn't want to stretch the theory to people coming back to life but perhaps people who apparently died in the bombings were, in fact, transformed by radiation. Pokémon like Kadabra are another thing. Kadabra or Kadabra-boy, his prior Pokémon state, suffered from genetic mutation from what we once again feel is radiation. And then we come to Lavender Town,  probably the creepiest thing in the Pokémon world. All the dead coming back to life and the ghost appearances made me think of...you guessed it...radiation. Perhaps Lavender Town was the target of an actual bombing, which would explain all the mourners and ghosts. Only a few were able to evacuate and even fewer able to survive. The population and size of Lavender Town is small and is probably made up of the people, and their families, too sad to leave behind their homes. Radation could also explain the odd purple coloration of Lavender Town.

Anyway, this is all we've come up with but feel free to share anything you want to add or if have a theory of your own, leave a comment and we will be sure to read
